What are Homeopathic Remedies?
Most homeopathic remedies are derived from plant, animal or mineral sources and are prepared in a unique manner called 'potentisation' which enhances their medicinal properties.
As the starting substance is diluted and potentised in repeated steps the material dose is lost and the remedy becomes purely an energetic imprint of the starting substance. The more dilute the remedy, the higher the potency.
The remedies are given in minute doses to avoid unwanted side effects, making them safer to use in situations where conventional drugs could be inadvisable (e.g. pregnancy, treating infants).
Homeopathic remedies have a different mode of action to pharmaceutical drugs or nutritional supplements and hence they are generally not repeated daily.
The treatment strategy that I follow is to dose with the appropriate remedy and then wait and watch for the effect on the vital essence of the patient.
If there is a good response we don’t repeat the remedy until we see that response start to fade.
Hence I use the smallest amount of remedy possible to get the maximum effect in the patient.
